For the Inter-American Development Bank, I edited a flagship publication on social protection for older people in Latin America. The job required harmonizing many authors’ voices and helping non-native English speakers express their ideas more clearly. The result is a strong case for why countries must act quickly before rapid population aging leaves millions in vulnerable situations. The English version has been downloaded over 73,000 times.

Amnesty International published an extensive investigation into severe human rights violations in El Salvador, including mass and arbitrary imprisonment and persecution of journalists. By translating part of the study and harmonizing and editing other sections translated by colleagues, I helped Amnesty draw attention to this crisis and increase international pressure on the Bukele administration to respect people’s basic rights.

For over a decade, my life and work has straddled the United States and Latin America.
